Jarvik paid $1.35 million for touting Lipitor.

The Congressional committee investigating Pfizer Inc's Lipitor advertising using celebrity doc Jarvik asked how much he was paid for his pitchman position.

"I'm paid an amount that I think for a celebrity ad would be considered a lot by most people," Jarvik told ABC news.

A contract uncovered in the probe has now revealed Jarvik was guaranteed $1.35 million for appearing in the advertisements.

No word about what the bodydouble was paid, who did the rowing, which has also resulted in a ruckus.

In the ads Jarvik insists he wants to protect people's hearts — but with cheaper generic drugs currently available on the market, the committee is looking to protect peoples' wallets.

Dr. Rost is a pharmaceuital litigation consultant and pharmaceutical marketing expert. He is also the author of Killer Drug and The Whistleblower.
