In light of the failed ENHANCE/Vytorin trial:
"Sad thing is that everybody already knew this ... and the company couldn't fess up and save some face by being honest. We should have never gotten in bed with a company known for covering up data and lying to the consumers."
"Physicians should only use ezetimibe or Vytorin as a last resort," Steven Nissen, head of cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic, said Monday. "It should not be used as a routine therapy for high cholesterol unless we see some additional evidence of benefit."
"Patients on Vytorin actually had more heart attacks, cardiovascular deaths and heart procedures than those who got Zocor (the top doses of each were used in the trial). Because of the small size of the study, those differences were not statistically significant and may be due to chance. Patients on Vytorin actually ended the study with slightly more plaque in their arteries, a result that may be due to chance."
"WOW! We are SOOOOOOOOOO DEAD!"

Well, the ENHANCE trial is on a group of very high risk patients anyway. Why this trial was even done is a mystery, but it isn't the "death-nail" that it is made out to be here. And Steve Nissen is a well known "whore" of the industry anyway...think "Ross Nader".
