Most effective condom ads . . . ?

Here's a guerilla advertising effort by Johnson & Johnson in Brazil. The cardboard is positioned under the door and sells Jontex, a brand of condoms. The headline reads, "you do not know when it can be necessary."

This is not the only time the Jontex advertising team went creative. Here's another high profile placement . . . no explanation needed.

Other advertisers are also stepping up to the plate. Such as Durex, using strategically placed ads in subways:

And there is more restroom related health-advertising. This is a full-size cut-out mounted on top of the door knob, promoting hand-washing. The sign next to the doorknob says: "92% of guys say they washed. 34% were lying."

Those ads are hilarious and also demand attention. I found some ads for safe sex at over at Omni Brain that depicted a naked man bedding down with a scorpion, and a woman being seduced by a tarantula. The ads are from a campaign that is running in France bolstering the risks of having unprotected sex. Granted the French have a different culture than we do here in America, so these types of ads prove more effective in France than if they were run here. However, both ads are definitely thought provoking and make the message very clear.

Interesting stuff -- but I understand from our folks who work for Johnson & Johnson in Brazil that the Jontex toilet stall advertisement is not one of ours and is actually a hoax that has been making the rounds for some time.
