Great post. I'd love to read a book about Lars - now THERE'S one you'd do a good job on, Doc, if it's not being done already...

In my experience, the Astra culture of the late 80's/early 90's really wasn't so different from where I worked. Booze, sex, company-sponsored partying and comradery really did feature pretty high on the agenda of most folks. As did discovering and bringing to market a whole bunch of blockbusting and valuable drugs. People knew how to have fun then, both at work and at play.

In my opinion, it only took a few whiners to give credence to the PC philosophies that have choked the fun and consequently the creativity out of the industry.

Now look at the mess the industry is in. But at least some poor little lambsies who (say) didn't have the gumption to slap the face of a drunken groper at a drunken office party can take satisfaction from that...

Sure, sexual harrassment at work is NOT acceptable. But I can only say that I never saw a case that wasn't promptly resolved by somone taking the initiative there and then, or by a colleague stepping in and doing it for them. Which is how it should be, without recourse to the nannies in HR or legal.

I look forward to the hate mail...
