Even though at first glance dietary supplements have nothing to do with pharmaceutical marketing, I'm hoping you'll check out these two stories (here and here) if only to note that Big Pharma is indeed getting into the dietary supplement biz.
The gist: Growth in dietary supplements -- vitamins, herbs and minerals that have zero to minimal impact on human health -- has been huge in part because the market is largely unregulated by the FDA.
What's new: Big Pharma is getting in on the act. Wyeth owns Solgar, Bayer owns Miles One-a-Day, and P&G has a partnership with PharmaVite to name but a few. (If you're already in the business of making pills, does it matter whether they do anything? Especially considering how lucrative it is, and how few headaches the FDA will give you?)
What's interesting: That lack of regulation coupled with high demand often tempts these blue-chip titans into making unsubstantiated claims worthy of Kevin Trudeau. Bayer was recently fined by the FTC for instance (and if you read closely you'll note that Bayer's Miles unit is a repeat offender). Why was Bayer fined? For wrongly claiming that its One-A-Day WeightSmart brand had something to do with losing weight...

Mr. Edwards,
Hopefully you are expecting some rebuttal to your sweeping generalization that "... dietary supplements -- vitamins, herbs and minerals that have zero to minimal impact on human health ...". That is just not true. Over the span of three years, my health has been positively turned around by using vitamins and supplements.
Sure, there are snake oil salesmen in that industry precisely because it is so unregulated. And like prescription drugs, what is effective for one person may not be effective for another. For example, I use melatonin to help me get a great nights sleep but it doesn't seem help a friend to whom I had recommended trying it.
Getting the most benefit from dietary supplements requires one to educate oneself on their use and will also require some trial and error experimenting to find what works for you. The benefits can be truly amazing.
Sincerely,
Paul White

Generic Propecia (FINASTERIDE) is the first and only FDA approved pill proven to treat male pattern hair loss on the vertex (top of head) and anterior mid-scalp area in men. Studies show that 80% of men experience improvement when taking Propecia. - http://www.caldrugs.com/pill/Propecia.html
Rogaine is used for regrowing hair in patients who have gradually thinning hair or gradual hair loss on the top of the head. Rogaine is a vasodilator. Exactly how Rogaine works to regrow scalp hair is not known. It may dilate blood vessels in the scalp. This may improve hair follicle function and stimulate scalp hair growth. http://www.caldrugs.com/pill/Rogaine.html

The author has written an excellent article. You have made your point and there is not much to argue about. It is like the following universal truth that you can not argue with: No truth is universal, everything has its exception. Thanks for the info. http://www.bestpenisproducts.com

Sex, pornography, these two issues are often very sensitive to deal with when you get to have children, I am one of those parents who prefer to educate their children at home rather than learn the wrong things with friends or in schools, I think many more parents should think the same way, so would avoid large numbers of unwanted pregnancies. Thanks!
